Enjoy our winter light show, Photosynthesis, beginning 30 minutes after sunset every night. The show is free to the public and is about 30 minutes long.

The Gardens are served by several public transit routes such as the N-Judah streetcar, 44, 28, 29, 7, 6, 5, 21, 33 and 43 buses.

Parking for cars and bicycles is conveniently located in the Music Concourse Garage. Access to Music Concourse Garage parking is from Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. across from the Botanical Garden (enter the park at 9th Ave and Lincoln Way, garage entrance will be third right) or Fulton Street at 10th Avenue. Parking in the 800 space garage is encouraged.

Limited street parking is available in Golden Gate Park. Additional sidewalk bike racks are available outside entrances to the Gardens.

The free Golden Gate Park Shuttle offers access to the Gardens and the eastern half of Golden Gate Park with stops along JFK Drive, Stow Lake Boathouse, Haight Street, and at the Music Concourse near the Japanese Tea Garden and de Young Museum. The shuttle operates daily:

Wheelchair Access

The Conservatory of Flowers is wheelchair accessible for both motorized and non-motorized chairs. We also have two non-motorized wheelchairs in the ticket booth, which visitors may use on a first-come, first-served basis.

Most of the Japanese Tea Garden historic landscape is not wheelchair accessible. There is limited accessibility to the Tea House and restrooms.

Most of the Botanical Garden’s pathways are wheelchair accessible, and accessible pathways are marked on wayfinding signage with the ISA symbol. Complimentary wheelchairs are available for use at either Botanical Garden entrance on a first come, first served basis.

​Restrooms and Pathways

Accessible restrooms are located near the Friend (North) Gate, at the Botanical Garden at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Tea Garden Drive.

There are also restrooms inside the main entrance near the Great Meadow. These restrooms are not accessible. See the visitor map for accessible restrooms and paths.

Conservatory of Flowers:

  • Food and drink are not allowed inside.
  • Strollers are not allowed inside, and may be parked outside the Conservatory on the grass.
  • Pets and outside plants are not allowed inside. (Service animals are permitted).
  • Tripods are not allowed inside. (Permits are required for commercial/professional and school photography).
  • Please close the doors between exhibit galleries.
  • Please keep cell phone conversations to a minimum.
  • Temperatures may exceed 85 degrees (29C).
