About the Program

Gardens of Golden Gate Park and Villa Albertine San Francisco invite you to A Transatlantic Journey in Notes, an immersive concert celebrating 250 years of artistic exchange between France and the United States through music and fragrance at the San Francisco Botanical Garden.

Violinist and perfumer Yoko Lévy-Kobayashi returns to the Gardens, joining musicians from the San Francisco–based ensemble Opéra Parallèle for a multisensory journey across three cultural periods: the era of Enlightenment, the Impressionist movement, and the Jazz age.

Through fragrances created by Lévy-Kobayashi, the program explores the creative dialogue between French and American artists and thinkers across generations, revealing the ways ideas, sounds, and sensibilities have traveled across the Atlantic and taken on new forms.

The afternoon will also mark the American premiere of Lévy-Kobayashi’s newest work, presented in the unique setting of the Celebration Garden. Surrounded by the Garden’s living collection of plants and flowers, guests will experience an intimate encounter between music, scent, history, and place.

This event is presented by Villa Albertine San Francisco, Gardens of Golden Gate Park, and Opéra Parallèle.
