San Francisco Botanical Garden — Library Terrace (by Main Gate)

About the Program

This monthly watercolor series invites you to paint what is currently blooming in the San Francisco Botanical Garden as it shifts through the seasons. The subject is based on what is in peak bloom during the week of the class. No two sessions are the same!

Everything is designed to help you begin with ease. All materials are included, and you’ll be provided with a pre-drawn sheet of watercolor paper featuring the day’s subject. You can step directly into color, water, observation, and expression from the first brushstroke.

This is a beginner-friendly class, but it is also for anyone who wants to spend time in the garden in a more attentive, creative way.

About the Instructor

Marco Flavio teaches these sessions as a working watercolor artist. He trained in classical painting in Italy and printmaking in Japan, and he teaches art both privately and publicly throughout the Bay Area. Marco practices painting from life, a way of seeing that shapes everything he creates—slowing down, noticing what matters, and responding to what is in front of him. You can learn more about Marco through his website, Out There Watercolors.
