Did you know folks all across America are growing Cannabis at home? Whether you call it hemp or marijuana, or enjoy THC and CBD, it is easy to grow in your backyard! Emily Gogol PhD. and Penny Barthel are bringing their popular workshops to the San Francisco Botanical Garden to provide you with practical advice and resources for growing at home. Throughout the lecture, they will share a variety of ‘show and tell’ items to demonstrate how to successfully grow at home.
Workshop Overview

- Step-by-step instructions for growing on patio in a container or in the ground.
This workshop is well suited for beginners — no previous experience is necessary!

About the Instructors
Penny Barthel is a Cannabis educator, gardener, and recipe developer. She believes that Cannabis belongs in the garden. A certified Cannabis horticulturist, Penny is nationally known for her gardening workshops and book The Cannabis Gardener (Penguin Random House 2021).
Emily Gogol, PhD. is a Cannabis educator, horticulturist and gardening advocate. Emily is CEO of Grow It From Home, which is awarded a multi-year USDA grant to promote growing Cannabis at home, in a backyard or on a patio. She has won numerous awards for her garden advocacy, including a Certificate of Recognition by the California State Senate.
