About the Program

Would you like to attract birds, bees, and butterflies to your garden? No matter what size garden you have, you can offer our native wildlife some habitat!

In this talk, you’ll learn the principles of habitat gardening—using our gardens to create habitat for wildlife—with a focus on what to do now as winter approaches. In addition, you’ll learn some amazing facts about the migratory birds that visit our gardens, based on recent science!

About the Speakers

Lynne Trulio is a 2024 graduate of the UC Master Gardener program. She—along with others—advocates for habitat gardening to support California’s native biodiversity. She also has interests in vegetable gardening and growing native plants. She is a professor emeritus of environmental studies at San Jose State University and also a wildlife ecologist, primarily studying birds and mammals.
