Facilitated Field Trips
for Kinder-3rd Grade
San Francisco Schools
These facilitated in-person programs are open to all Kindergarten–3rd grade classes from San Francisco schools, whether public, private, or parochial. You can choose dates during the school year from late September – late May.
We especially encourage SPED/inclusion classes, newcomer classes, and classes taught in a language other than English to join us. Let us know your needs, and we will do our best to customize our activities for your students.

Tips for Planning Your Visit
- Each Kindergarten-3rd grade class in San Francisco may receive one free facilitated field trip each school year. Apply here
- Teachers may reserve self-guided field trips to the gardens here.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Children’s Garden Experience
One of our Educators will meet your class at the Children’s Garden within the Botanical Garden for this program. The hands-on activity will last ~50-minutes. Your class is free to explore the Botanical Garden on their own, before or after the lesson.
Reservation times available:
- Tuesdays at 10:15am or 11:30am
- Thursdays at 10:15am or 11:30am
- Some flexibility in start and end times can be requested but is not guaranteed. Classes may enter the garden as early as 9:00am.

2nd & 3rd Grade: Conservatory of Flowers Experience
Your class will get a special hands-on experience in our classroom led by a Garden Educator. The class lasts ~50-minutes and connects with the Next Generation Science Standards. Your class is free to explore the Conservatory on their own, before or after the lesson.
Reservations available:
- Tuesdays at 10:15am or 11:30am
- Thursdays at 10:15am or 11:30am
- Some flexibility in start and end times can be requested but is not guaranteed. Classes may enter the garden as early as 10:00am.
