Annette began volunteering in the Children’s Garden in 1996 and became SFBGS’s Youth Education Coordinator in 1997. Since then she has overseen the expansion of school and family programs in the Garden, becoming Director of Youth Education in 2011.

In addition to administering programs for children and families, she particularly enjoys conducting training programs for volunteers working with children, presenting professional development workshops for teachers and training school garden educators. Before coming to San Francisco, she worked at Harvard University’s Arnold Arboretum, where she ran the field-trip program, trained volunteer guides, and conducted teacher-training programs for the Museum Institutes for Teaching Science.

Annette received her bachelor’s degree from Brown University and earned a Master of Environmental Studies degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Her weekends are spent hiking the hidden trails of Mt. Tamalpais and serving as a Pipe Major of the MacIntosh Pipe Band.
