Joe Rothleutner

As the Garden Director, Joseph represents the onsite leadership of the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department in the public-private partnership that operates the San Francisco Botanical Garden. Joseph has a background in horticulture and facilities management having worked in public gardens for over 10 years, including Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Lincoln Park Zoo, and The Morton Arboretum. Passionate about people’s enjoyment of gardens, Joseph spends much of his own time gardening at home and visiting other public gardens across the Bay Area. Joseph received his M.S. in Horticulture from Oregon State University and his B.S. in Urban Forestry from University of Maryland.
