This beautiful plant is native to regions ranging from West Tropical Africa to the Arabian Peninsula. Adeniums are appreciated for their colorful flowers, but also for their unusual, thick caudex. A caudex is a swollen stem base where the root meets the stem. The name obesum refers to this fat or succulent characteristic. Adeniums can grow up to 6 meters tall in its natural environment but are loved by bonsai artists due to their slow growing habit and sculptural branches.
