Earth Day Celebration

Join us for a fun filled celebration of Earth Day in the Great Meadow at the San Francisco Botanical Garden. This all ages program will feature children’s book readings by local authors, crafts, games, and more! Attendees are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the garden or walk over to our Children’s Garden and participate in the latest installation of our interactive Storybook Stroll featuring the newly released children’s book A Seed Will Grow by authors Eunice and Sabrina Moyle. This event is free with admission to the garden. Activities will be offered while supplies last, come early for the best opportunity to participate with our program partners.

A SEED WILL GROW by Eunice and Sabrina Moyle (11:30 AM – 12:30 PM) 

Best-selling local children’s book creators Eunice and Sabrina Moyle of Hello!Lucky have released their first interactive hands-on board book for toddlers, titled A Seed Will

Grow, published by Abrams Appleseed, New York. A Seed Will Grow makes it exciting and fun to learn about the seed-to-plant cycle, from seeing seeds grow shoots, roots, and leaves, to watching flowers bloom, pollinate, and grow fruit. It’s a joyful, colorful, hands-on celebration of nature. Most of all, it’s a celebration of children. Join Eunice and Sabrina as they read their book and lead participants in a series of craft activities and games to learn about the wonderful world of plants and take home fun prizes.

TINY TROUBLES: NELLI’S PURPOSE by Sophie Diao (1:00 PM – 1:45 PM) 

NY Times-bestselling children’s book creator Sophie Diao will be reading her author-illustrator debut, Tiny Troubles: Nelli’s Purpose. This silly, sweetly philosophical adventure follows two succulents, Nelli and Worthi, who set out into the unknown on an exciting and life-affirming search for their purpose. Join Sophie for a read-aloud of her book, followed by drawing games, a succulent-themed craft activity, and a book signing.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA MOMS (ENTIRE PROGRAM) 

Join the SF Bay Area Moms and friends in experimenting with eco-friendly arts and crafts and other fun activities to celebrate our connection to Mother Earth! 

SAN FRANCISCO PUBLIC LIBRARY (ENTIRE PROGRAM)

Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of books on climate action, courtesy of SFPL, while supplies last. Pick up a free book and information about library programs and services.

SAN FRANCISCO BOTANICAL BEAN SPROUTS PROGRAM (ENTIRE PROGRAM)

The youth education team of the SF Botanical Children’s Garden will have a table filled with plant activities to craft and learn about our connection to plants, the planet and each other! 

SAN FRANCISCO BOTANICAL BOOKSTORE (ENTIRE PROGRAM)

The bookstore will be popping up in the garden with a curated selection of gifts and plants to celebrate Earth Day in the gardens!
