Felt Magnolia Flowers Workshop with Robert Mahar

March 8 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm $95

Date: Saturday, March 8

Time: 10am-12:30pm

Location: San Francisco County Fair Building, Recreation Room

Description

The Garden is home to one of the most significant conservation collections of magnolias in the U.S. with more than 200 elegant trees. Join us in celebrating their blooming season with artist Robert Mahar and learn how to craft a bouquet of beautiful magnolia flowers. Transform sheets of wool-blend felt into three dimensional flower components: tepals, stamens and carpels along with their signature two-tone leaves. Clever construction techniques combine these elements into three-dimensional blooms that can be displayed as decor and a beautiful souvenir of the season.

This class is well suited for adventurous beginners, no previous experience is necessary.

Materials

We ask that participants kindly bring a pair of scissors to the workshop.

All other materials are included and will be provided to participants when they arrive for the workshop. Each material kit includes a selection of wool blend felt, floral wire, adhesive and templates.
