About the Program

Welcome award-winning author Robert Moor for the release of his latest book, In Trees: An Exploration, at the San Francisco Botanical Garden! In Trees—the perfect companion to Moor’s first book, On Trails—takes readers into their own backyard and across the globe to explore how we gain wisdom from and are evolutionarily intertwined with trees.

Join us for an author talk followed by audience Q+A and book signing. Books available for purchase with your RSVP, or available at the event.

About In Trees: An Exploration

With In Trees: An Exploration (published by Simon & Schuster on April 7, 2026 in time for Earth Day and Arbor Day), Moor brings readers on a wondrous journey through the wilds of nature and the gnarls of history, in search of how trees—from the mightiest sequoia to the tiniest bonsai—can teach us to grow wise. Moor writes about how trees transform us, “A tree is not only a living being. It is also a way of being…Arborescence consists of three simultaneous processes: branching, pruning, and gnarling. The result is something inventive, exacting, and long-lasting.”
