This program offers tiered ticketing to encourage greater diversity of participants from the community. About PSYCHOPOMP

Members are invited to be among the first to experience PSYCHOPOMP, an immersive, after-hours theatrical performance unfolding throughout the San Francisco Botanical Garden!

PSYCHOPOMP is a guided, walking experience that leads participants through a series of outdoor performance stations across the Garden. At each stop, you’ll encounter a mythic “psychopomp” – a supernatural guide drawn from global traditions – who will perform, interact, and usher you onward to the next chapter of the journey.

Meet figures such as Vanth of Etruscan mythology, the Nordic Valkyries, the Aztec Xolotl, the Grecian Charon, Ox Head and Horse Face from Chinese lore, and a contemporary reimagining of the Celtic Cat Sith. Each station offers a distinct mood – from playful to contemplative – inviting you to heighten your senses and reflect on themes of transition, transformation, and the unknown. 

PSYCHOPOMP is a fully outdoor, all-weather experience. Guests will walk for the duration of the performance and are encouraged to dress accordingly.

About the Performers 

We Players is the San Francisco Bay Area’s premiere site-specific theatre company. This unique non-profit creates stunning productions that are intimate and interactive, taking place in national, state, and municipal parks.
