About the Program

A part of Litquake Secret Garden series

Join wildfire survivors and firefighters-turned-writers as they shed light on living amid ecological destruction.

We’re in this together—the textured history of ecological systems and Indigenous land tending, the modern practices that have led to their imbalance, and the people who fight and survive fire. Join Dani Burlison and Margaret Elysia Garcia, wildfire survivors and editors of Red Flag Warning: Mutual Aid and Survival in California’s Fire Country, as they shed light on living physically, mentally, and emotionally amid ecological destruction. They’ll be joined by firefighters-turned-memoirists Kelly Ramsey and River Selby for a discussion moderated by Leslie Carol Roberts. Limited seating. BYO chair or blanket, encouraged. No RSVP required.

Musical interludes by Rosie Cima and Jenny Haniver.

Book sales for this event coordinated by Green Apple Books.

Heavy rain cancels. Admission to the Garden is free for San Francisco residents, veterans, Museums for All/EBT participants, and Gardens members.
